Blind Spots (1 of 5)

This is a five-part article.

Be sure to read all of them.

It's stout stuff.

We're going to talk about something that many people think they know, but they don't know.

Blind spots.

And blind spots are what get us.

It's the things that we think we know that just aren't so, and that can get us into trouble. And we all have them.

I have them, and you have them.

And so this is going to be really good. So grab a pen, grab a notepad, and take some notes.

We're going to learn today from Proverbs.

We're going to talk about diligence.

And before you sign off and are like, Oh, I know all about diligence.

If you're not hitting your goals, if you're not making a minimum of $20 grand a month, I submit to you that maybe there's something you can learn about diligence.

Proverbs says: "Do you see a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings."

Let's talk about diligence because true diligence runs contrary to human nature.

And that proverb, Proverbs 22:29.

True diligence runs contrary to human nature.

Human nature is instant gratification: the microwave, not the crock-pot, the path of least resistance.

But Solomon's concept of diligence is not what you think.

When we look up the definition of diligence, it says persistent and Hard work, persistence, and hard working effort and doing something.

Now persistence is good. However, the hard-working is not good. That is not an accurate representation of what Solomon was talking about.

A better definition is smart, and working. Not hard-working, smart working.

Persistent and smart working effort and doing something.

Now let's talk about it, let's imagine that you're getting ready to cut down a tree.

Well, you could take a hammer and start whacking at the tree like a madman. And eventually, you'd cut that thing down. Probably take you days you'd be tired and sore.

However, if you took a chainsaw, you could cut that tree down within minutes.

So there's hard work, and there's smart work.

And it's up to us to make sure that we're always working smart.

Why?

Because God gave us a finite amount of resources of time and energy. And we need to be good stewards of those resources.

Therefore we should always be working smart.

So let's talk about synonyms of diligence.
