Human Leverage

I wanted to share something that I think is pretty cool.

I am hiring some cold callers for one of my businesses.

And I'm a big believer in working ON my business and not IN my business.

That is a recipe for scale and lifestyle.

If you build a business, that's basically just a job where you are doing everything all the time, and the business machine is totally dependent on you, then when your business gets more successful, guess what, it takes more of your time.

And you become the constraint to growth.

You become the limiting factor.

You become the bottleneck.

You only have so many hours of the day.

You only have so much attention. You only have so much energy.

And then also the downside with that is there'll be certain tasks in your business that you just don't like to do, or you're not good at.

For me that's phone work.

I don't enjoy that.

I'm an introvert.

I'm not very good at it.

I could get good at it, but I just don't like doing it.

So I decided that I'm going to hire someone to do this for me.

So what are my options?

Well, I could go to upwork.

I could go to

I could go to Fiverr.

I could find somebody.

But if I'm doing that, then guess what, I have to do all this extra stuff.

I have to interview.  I have to recruit. I have to train. I have to manage.

And as I was doing this, I haven't hired callers in years, I was astonished.

I was blown away.

I was so pumped that there are services now that do this.

Just like Uber for the taxi industry.

Just like Zeel for the massage industry.

There are online services that are popping up and have popped up in that provide pre-trained callers.

Whether your business needs callers or not, that's not the point.

My point is, make sure that in your business, you're leveraging the resources, the tools, the platforms that are available for you.

Because every day, new stuff comes online.

I heard this ten years ago, that software is going to eat the world.

And I really believe it.

It's amazing what you can do with software.

It's amazing what you can do with other people plugging into these specialist platforms.

You can get a specialist for just about anything, and you can get them relatively inexpensively.

With my caller example, yes, it would be cheaper for me on a per hour rate to do this in house.

But if I look at the other expenses, if I make a decision globally, and I look at the whole deal, then it makes more sense for me just to pay somebody who is already trained.

They do, right? They manage these people. They equip them. They empower him. They monitor him, they report them, they fire him, they hire him.

And I just set it up and then it runs like a Swiss watch.

Boom. Done. Next.
